RULES & GUIDELINES

OBJECTIVES
To recognize, encourage and support continuous music study of high school seniors.
To recognize our member teachers for excellence in teaching.

ELIGIBILTY
The scholarship is open to all instrumental and vocal high school seniors.
Teacher must be an active member of SDNC CAPMT.
Student limit per teacher: 5 students
Student must have studied with the teacher for at least 1 year.
Student must have participated in at least two SDNC-CAPMT / MTNA events in the current academic year.

AWARDS
1st place: $400
2nd place: $275
3rd place: $150
Honorable Mention: $75

AUDITION PROCEDURE
1. Students will perform two solo works of contrasting styles/periods.
2. Performances should be uploaded to the student’s YouTube channel (performances can be “unlisted” for privacy purposes).

3. High-quality video recordings are encouraged.
4.  Total time limit for both selections: 10 minutes.
5.   Memorization required.
6.   All scholarship awardees will be invited to perform at the Spotlight Concert and Awards Ceremony.
7.   Limit per teacher: five registered students.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applicants must obtain the application form from their teacher. 
 

Student must include
a. YouTube video links (2 total, unlisted recommended).
b. A brief bio or cv highlighting recent accomplishments, both academic, musical, or other.
c. A 1-2 page statement/essay on one of the following topics
                       1) What is the most interesting work you studied this past year and                                why?
                       2) How has the study of music influenced you?
                       3) What advice would you give someone who is considering serious                                music study?
d. A letter of recommendation from student’s teacher.  Please send                            to capmt.sdnc@gmail.com

The Scholarship Committee and SDNC-CAPMT Board of Directors have the final ruling on the Scholarship decisions.
