san diego north chapter Winter Music Festival

INTRODUCTION

The 2024 San Diego North Chapter Winter Music Festival is the second of three non-competitive festivals. This event is in recital format and is open to all ages, levels, and instruments, including voice. The event features solo or ensemble performances encompassing all musical periods.  The SDNC is proud to offer young musicians valuable experiences in a supportive atmosphere. All proceeds support the SDNC programs.

​FESTIVAL RULES AND GUIDELINES

  • The 2023 Southern California Fall Music Festival is open to students of all teachers and contributing members of the San Diego North Chapter in good standing.

  • There is no limit to the number of applicants per studio. First come, first served. 

  • This non-competitive festival is open to all instruments, solo or ensemble; however, applicants are adjudicated based on a 100-point system. Performers receiving 85 and above will be eligible for the Spotlight Awards Concert in June.  Please refer to the Spotlight Award Concert guidelines.

  • Categories (applicant's age on November 19), 8 and under, 9-12, 13-15, 16-19.

  • For all levels – elementary, intermediate, and advanced – the performance time limit is 5-7 minutes.

  • All performers must submit a consent form once annually online, https://www.sdnc-capmt.org/general-8-1, 

  • Students are encouraged to perform from memory, but it is not required and will not affect the scoring.

  • Students must dress in appropriate recital attire and stay for the entire recital in which they perform.

  • Students may perform one or two pieces of repertoire from the standard repertoire for their instrument. Acceptable styles include Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary (pre and post 1960). Pieces composed by lesser-known or under-represented communities are highly encouraged. 

  • All applicants will receive written judge’s comments, a certificate, and a medal for participation.
